01 Why Murata?

I studied Japanese at a university in the Netherlands, this inspired me to work at a Japanese company. Murata, being a global company with Japanese roots, was for me a unique opportunity to be able to connect and work together with diverse cultures and perspectives.

Even though I initially knew little about Murata and had no technical background, from the very first day I started, I was moved by Murata’s true essence: its people. Murata’s supportive, kind, and welcoming atmosphere fostered by my colleagues made it very apparent to me that this was a place where I could thrive and grow as professionally and personally.

02 Your Career

After joining our Murata office located in the Netherlands in 2022, I was assigned to the customer service department. There, I was responsible for managing relationships with several customers and distributors in Europe, and through working together with many different departments, including sales, supply chain, legal, and finance, I was able to develop various communication skills.

I applied to “Murata’s overseas training program” and was transferred to the Corporate Communications Department at the head office in Kyoto, Japan in 2024. During the program, I was able to improve my communication skills in a different culture and environment. At Corporate Communication Department, I learned how to promote "Murata’s corporate value" to people both inside and outside the company, and I had many opportunities to utilize social media to communicate our various strengths and initiatives.

During the program, it was also my first time living overseas, and although I was able to gain a lot of valuable experience, I sometimes felt anxious because I was doing work that I had never done before, and there were language barriers and different ways of thinking. However, the Japan team members always accepted me as I was and gave me a lot of support professionally and personally. I think that through this experience, I was able to take a fresh look at myself and experience self-growth both within my career and as an individual.

Currently, I am working in our Netherlands office, focusing on strengthening communication between Europe and Japan and playing a role in enhancing global connections. Working together with other global locations and other departments requires to overcome language barriers as well as physical distance, and this is something I really enjoy. I fully believe that diversity is one of Murata’s greatest assets of being a global company. I was able to gain new values and experiences by putting myself in an unfamiliar environment. At Murata, I already gained many valuable experiences and I wish to continue developing and growing as a person. I am looking forward to continuing to support global communication and to take on new challenges.

03 Vision for the Future

I always look forward to continuing to take on new challenges. I wish to mentor new team members who have been transferred from other departments or locations. There are many challenges when you are transferred to a new environment, so I would like to help guide them through the on-boarding process. I believe I am not a very patient person, so I wish to become a more patient mentor. I am eager to learn how to support people by leveraging my skills and capabilities, and to create an environment where both the person giving support and the person receiving support can grow together.

Currently I am assigned to a new role with no precedent at our European regional headquarters. I need to navigate many things by myself and seek advice from different departments and locations. I am very excited and appreciate this good opportunity to develop my leadership skills.

Murata for you

What do you think about Murata?

In my daily work, I often think about how to effectively communicate Murata’s strengths and values to society. For me, it all comes down to our people. Being part of such an internationally diverse organization allows me to collaborate with colleagues from various countries, including the Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, America, and learn about their diverse cultures and perspectives. Witnessing the creativity and dedication of my colleagues are truly inspiring; they consistently strive not only for excellence in their roles but also seeking innovative ways to contribute to society through various initiatives.
This sense of purpose motivates me every day to give my best effort at work. I am grateful for finding and working at Murata which fosters such a special environment.

My hobbies are reading, keeping a journal, walking, and traveling. I love to try and experience new things, but I also realized that after spending a year away from my friends and family in the Netherlands, I wish to cherish the time I spend with the people I love, enjoy life, and continue to explore beautiful places around the world. These photos are from some of my adventures with my friends in Japan.
