01 Why Murata?

After graduating from a Korean university with bachelor’s degree in information engineering, I joined a Korean IT company and began my career as a software engineer. After being involved in the design and development of platforms to improve software development productivity and service security, I gained extensive experience in software engineering across 3 companies in different industries.
My family and I then moved to Japan to attend a graduate school, where I earned an MBA to broaden my perspective and advance my career.

The first company I joined had a strong presence in the semiconductor field. Therefore, while pursuing my graduate studies in Japan, I decided to research hardware and component companies that support the use of IT infrastructure in our daily lives. As I examined each company's business operations, performance, and financial situation, I became intrigued by Murata's strength in vertical integration and product development capabilities.

Additionally, I've always had an affinity for Kyoto, and Murata's excellent corporate reputation was an important factor in my decision. Furthermore, my interviewer, most likely to be my boss, was very logical and friendly, which motivated myself to join Murata for future career growth and development.

02 Your Career

I am working at Murata’s Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) department which leads the development of concepts, roadmaps, construction, and deployment of Murata's enterprise-wide platform and service offerings. I was involved in team building activities after my 3rd year of joining Murata, and now responsible for organization and team member management.

Murata's CCoE department has the several roles for the company group: (1) strengthening governance, (2) building a common platform, (3) supporting utilization, (4) maintaining and managing collaborative systems, and (5) supporting growth. CCoE department is positioned as a foothold to support Murata's DX (digital transformation) initiatives. We are now working to establish regional CCoE department in 5 regions: ASEAN, East Asia, Europe, the United States and China. As our first step, we are now focusing on strengthening partnerships to build cooperative frameworks with each region.

03 Vision for the Future

I want to take the lead in contributing the value of IT platforms from a product management perspective as a accelerator of Murata's business growth and DX promotion, while also strengthening the organization necessary to achieve this.

First, I will take the initiative in global and regional activities and work diligently with my team members. Before joining Murata, I worked as an individual contributor as software engineer. After joining Murata, my role and perspective has widened, and I realize the importance of organizational growth and our team members’ personal development. I always focus on how to contribute to creating a good cycle of social and economic values.

Murata for you

What do you think about Murata?

I believe that Murata has a culture well suited to individuals who can think by themselves and make their own suggestions and proposals. To describe Murata’s corporate culture, the first words that come to mind are logical, serious, sincere, and friendly. We are often given a lot of discretion, so the success key factors are how we develop our ability to promote new ideas and initiatives, build partnerships and collaborate to create innovations.

Murata maintains strong relationships with overseas markets, with international sales revenue over 90%. There are many opportunities to collaborate with members from various countries and build IT systems together. For myself, I need to be fully aware of the overseas business systems and latest market situations to carry out any global initiatives. I am grateful for the work opportunity to expand my understanding in various cultures, people, and business laws across the globe.

Working at Murata, we always conceive and discuss at a medium- to long-term perspective. I believe it is characteristic of Murata to conduct conceptualizing work and formulate product and services on a global scale.

Personal Life

I cherish the time I spend with my family.
My daughter who was in kindergarten when I joined Murata, is now at senior grade at elementary school. Until now, I have attended almost all her kindergarten and school events, and I enjoy picking her up from school. My work and life balance are well managed thanks to the flexible work system supported by remote working and flexible working hours, as well as my team members’ mutual understanding and support.

My family and I currently live in Kyoto. I decided to live in Japan is that I had visited the country several times as a tourist, and I particularly fell in love with the Kamo River in Kyoto.

I also enjoy going on regional "supermarket tours." When I visit a new place, I've never been to before, I like to explore the local supermarket to see what they sell and what types of private label products they focus on; this helps me get a feel for the local culture and atmosphere. Supermarkets are filled with insights into people's lives and regional characteristics, so whenever I'm on business trips, I always make some time to explore local supermarkets after work.
